Kids and adults are welcome. If you or your child has never played chess, that is completely fine. A good portion of my students started from scratch. You do not need to know notation, openings, or tournament rules.Much of my experience is helping beginners and intermediate players through the stages up to about 1800 USCF or 2000 on Chess.com. Those are not strict limits. If you are a stronger player, I can also help you review games, work through recurring mistakes, and give your practice more direction.
Lessons are available online via Google Meet and Chess.com, or in person in San Antonio at the student’s home or an agreed location.Travel fees apply only to in-person visits: 0–5 miles is free; over 5–10 miles adds $5; over 10–15 miles adds $10; over 15–20 miles adds $15. Beyond 20 miles requires a custom quote and depends on availability. The fee is per visit, not per student. Siblings sharing the same visit pay one travel fee.
