About Coach Carter

I’m Carter Williams, a professional chess coach and the founder of C³ Chess. I’ve spent the past several years teaching students of all ages, from beginners learning the basics to competitive players preparing for tournaments.

As President of the Tulane University Chess Club and a Chess.com Ambassador, I’ve organized large tournaments, hosted events with world champions, and built programs that help students grow both on and off the board. I’ve also had the privilege of being coached by Grandmaster Jonathon Speelman, former World #5, which continues to shape my teaching approach.

I believe chess is more than just a game—it’s a tool for building focus, creativity, and confidence. My coaching combines personalized lesson plans, game reviews, and practical training, whether online or in person in San Antonio.
